I just came out of a PI (Performance Improvement) committee meeting and I'm so impressed with the work going on here. The #1 way to keep people from acquiring infections in hospitals is for everyone to be constantly washing their hands.
We say we want 100% compliance with our hand washing protocol.
And we mean it.
To my knowledge, we're the only hospital that will fire an employee for failing to wash their hands before and after patient contact.
We even limit the number of rings a person can have (they harbor germs) and the length of finger nails. It's not out of a desire to control. It's because our patients are worth it. They deserve the absolute best care possible.
Who wouldn't want to work at a place with this sort of commitment?!
